DANC 2400 — DANC-2400 African Dance II

Continued practice of foundational movements, rhythms, and traditions of West African dance. Emphasis on expanding movement vocabulary, rhythmic phrasing, call-and-response structures, and community building. Develop increased stamina, precision and clarity, coordination, musicality, body and spatial awareness, and performance and ensemble skills. Further exploration of dances associated with celebrations of life, rites of passage, harvest, healing, and storytelling. Discussion of historical and cultural contexts and connections to the African diaspora.
