Behavioral Sciences (4) or STAT C1000 Introduction to Statistics (4) or STAT C1000H Introduction to Statistics – Honors (4) Total Units: 18-19 SOCIOLOGY The Sociology degree program provides students with a foundation in the science of sociology. Upon successful completion of the program requirements, the student will acquire an understanding of major sociological concepts and theoretical perspectives on social problems and social life as they apply to the individual, group, and society. Students will also understand the principles of research methods and data analysis. The major prepares students for transfer to four-year colleges and universities as part of preparation for careers in sociology or related fields such as teaching, research, social work, public relations, and counseling. Students will demonstrate their proficiency in sociological competencies through examinations and writing assignments on the major sociological theories, topics of sociological study, and research techniques. The Associate of Arts for Transfer (AA-T) is intended for students who plan to complete a bachelor’s degree in a similar major at a CSU campus. Students completing the AA-T are given priority consideration for admission to the CSU system, but not to a particular campus or major. In order to earn an AA-T degree, students must complete: 1.
