Units: 4 Lecture Hours: 54 Lab Hours: 54 Outside Hours: 108 Grading Method: Letter Credit Status: Credit, degree applicable Conditions of Enrollment: Prerequisite: One year of high school Physics or PHYS 120 with a minimum grade of C; and MATH 190 with a minimum grade of C or concurrent enrollment This is the first course in a four-semester calculus-based physics sequence designed for students with majors in engineering and the physical sciences. The course focuses on the mechanics of solids, with topics including statics, kinematics, Newton’s Laws, energy, power, linear and angular momentum, rotational dynamics, elasticity, simple harmonic motion, and gravitation. *Note: the maximum UC credit allowed for students completing PHYS 120, 122 and PHYS 1 50, 1 52, 250, 252 is one series; deduct credit for duplication of topics.
