NURS 240 — Intermediate Medical-Surgical Nursing I
Units: 4 Lecture Hours: 36 Lab Hours: 108 Outside Hours: 72 Grading Method: Letter Credit Status: Credit, degree applicable Conditions of Enrollment: Prerequisite: NURS 230, NURS 232, NURS 234, and NURS 238 with a minimum grade of C Enrollment Limitation: Students must be admitted to the Nursing Program In this course, students are introduced to adult patients with moderate to severe disease states. Theory and clinical practice will focus on the biophysical concepts in medical-surgical conditions. Students will examine problems associated with tissue integrity, nutrition, inflammation, perfusion, acid-base balance, fluid and electrolytes, elimination, hormonal and glucose regulation, functional ability, safety, sexuality, and self-management.
