Units: 2.5 Lecture Hours: 27 Lab Hours: 54 Outside Hours: 54 Grading Method: Letter Credit Status: Credit, degree applicable Conditions of Enrollment: Prerequisite: NURS 220, NURS 222, NURS 224, and NURS 226 with a minimum grade of C Enrollment Limitation: Students must be admitted to the Nursing Program This course focuses on the theory and practical application of concepts related to obstetrical patients and the newborn. The nursing process will be utilized as the foundation of study and emphasis will be placed on the concepts of reproduction, health promotion, self-management, infection, technology &; informatics, thermoregulation, perfusion, human sexuality, nutrition culture, and social/ethical aspects. The student will gain a conceptual understanding of principles in all areas specific to the obstetrical patient and the newborn.
