MATH 120 — Nature of Mathematics

This course surveys general ideas and concepts of mathematics, including mathematics of finance, set theory, combinatorics, probability, statistics, voting systems, logic and applications of Euclidean geometry. Note: Only offered in spring. Note: This course meets the CSU general education requirement for mathematics and quantitative reasoning. In this course, students will explore polynomial, radical, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions and their graphs, as well as sequences and series. Note: MATH 1 30 and MATH 180 combined: UC maximum credit, 5 semester units. Note: This is a preparatory course for MATH 165.
