NRSG 242 — Professional Role Transition

The focus of this course is on the theory and clinical application of the Nursing Process when providing care for medical-surgical patients in the acute care setting. This course facilitates the transition from student nurse to graduate nurse. The student participates as a preceptee member of the healthcare team and assumes responsibility for a group of patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Course content includes legal and ethical issues related to nursing practice. By the end of this course, the graduate is expected to function satisfactorily within the Educational Competencies for Graduates of Associate Degree Nursing Programs as identified by the National League for Nursing Task Force. The student must receive a grade of "C" or higher in the lecture component and a satisfactory grade in clinical lab in order to pass the course.
