MUS 181 — Music Theory/Musicianship II

This is a course in music theory and musicianship dealing with advanced diatonic harmony. The course covers the major topics of inversions, nonharmonic tones, seventh chords, and diatonic modulation through the study of four-voice harmony, voice leading, and figured bass symbols. All concepts will be presented in theoretical examples and actual music. All theoretical concepts will be studied through practical applications including sight singing, ear training, dictation, rhythm exercises, and keyboard harmony. This course is not open to students who have received credit in MUS 107.
