MUS 180 — Music Theory/Musicianship I
This is a course in music theory and Musicianship. The course incorporates the basic skills of note reading, major and minor scales and key signatures, intervals, and triads to facilitate the study of diatonic triadic harmony, four-voice harmony, voice leading, and figured bass symbols. All concepts will be presented in theoretical examples and actual music. All theoretical concepts will be studied through practical applications including sight singing, ear training, dictation, rhythm exercises, and keyboard harmony. Development of handwritten music notation is expected. This course is not open to students who have received credit in MUS 106.
