EMSP 1580 — Advanced Emergency Medical Technician

(AEMT) Capstone 1 Minimum Total Hours 42 PARAMEDICINE (PT12) Diploma The Paramedicine diploma program provides students for a dynamic and advanced role within the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) profession. This program will provide students will the complex knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation and function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight as a Paramedic. This program combines rigorous academic coursework with extensive hands-on training to develop the clinical, technical and decision-making skills necessary for effective emergency response. Students will learn to assess patients, administer medications, perform advanced airway management and use life-saving equipment under the guidance of experienced instructors and medical professionals. Conditions for Admission: Hold current certification and/ or licensure as an: EMT I/85 (with successful completion of Georgia State Office of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma (SOEMST) EMTI to AEMT update course); EMT I/99; or AEMT. Completion of General Education Core and Anatomy and Physiology classes required prior to start of EMSP classes. Criminal background checks and drug screens may be required based on the requirements for participation in clinical experiences.
