HIM 247 - Medical Assisting Clin Tech II HIM 247 - Medical Assisting Clin Tech II This course is the second half of the medical assisting hands-on skills sequence, focusing on advanced clinical and laboratory competencies. Students perform ECGs, venipuncture, capillary puncture, and pulmonary function testing, and collect specimens for CLIA-waived hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, immunology, and microbiology tests. Additional components include maintaining provider-level CPR certification, educating patients on dietary needs, utilizing community resources for referrals, and accurately documenting patient care. The course prepares students to safely and effectively apply their clinical, laboratory, and communication skills and readies them to apply this knowledge during their internship.
