HIM 147 - Medical Assisting Clin Tech I HIM 147 - Medical Assisting Clin Tech I This course is the first half of the medical assisting hands-on skills sequence. Students will develop essential clinical skills needed to safely and effectively care for patients. The course emphasizes hands-on practice in aseptic technique, vital signs, proper gloving and gowning, patient positioning, and conducting patient interviews. Students will also be introduced to the lab environment, CLIA standards, and bloodborne pathogen (BBP) safety, and will gain proficiency in recognizing medical instruments and performing eye exams using the Snellen chart.
