COMS 4613 — Natural Language Processing

An introduction to natural language processing techniques and their application in both traditional systems and modern large language models. Topics include text preprocessing, language modeling, word embeddings, sequence labeling, semantic search, transformer-based architectures, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and prompt engineering. The course also addresses evaluation methods and the ethical implications of deploying NLP systems.
