CNSL 6163 — Diagnosis and Treatment in Counseling

This course introduces students to fundamental concepts of the current edition of the DSM as well as the clinical interviewing skills necessary to apply diagnoses to clients in an ethical manner. This course will look at multicultural aspects and as well as from co-occurring diagnosis perspectives (additions and mental health diagnoses.) This course will allow future clinicans to create self-awareness as a critical dimension in accurate diagnosis and effective treatment planning. Course materials will consist of both lecture, use of current DSM manual, and case studies.
