CDLT 1007 — C ommercial Driver’s License Training
Sem: 3 Lec./4 Lab Hrs./Week This course provides a fundamental understanding of commercial vehicle classifications, DOT Regulations, and safe vehicle handling. Students will develop an understanding of commercial vehicles, Federal Motor Carrier qualifications, regulations, and learn how to inspect equipment for safe operation. The course emphasizes hands-on skills driving, backing, slow maneuvering, inspecting commercial vehicles, reading a road atlas, understanding and recording hours of service, and recognizing the signs of human trafficking awareness. This course prepares and trains new drivers with the skills needed to obtain licensure to drive commercial vehicles and have a successful driving career. Must complete with grade of “B” or higher to receive Certificate of Proficiency. A lab fee and testing fee is required.
